Donald Bäcker

Donald Bäcker started in 1984 as a weather observer at the meteorological station Neuruppin, which he headed from 1990 to 1997. To be able to also predict the weather, he was trained at the German weather service and the armed forces University (as a civil servant for life) to become a aviation weather advisor.

A change to the private weather service Meteofax was necessary to convey his enthusiasm for the weather via the media. There he worked in 1999 as a meteorologist for the creation and presentation of weather reports for radio and television for SFB, MDR and RBB. At MC weather (today MeteoGroup), he 2004 produced weather broadcasts for radio RBB and radio SAW and gathered experience in winter service (snow and frost forecasts).

Since 2005, he was working as a freelancer for Meteomedia and since 2012 for Cumulus Media, mainly presenting the weather forecast within the ARD Morgenmagazin, which in 2012 received the "Deutschen Fernsehpreis - German TV Prize". At the Weather Summit 2009 in Austria he received an award for the best weather presentation in the German-speaking countries.
